We Are All Trying Here

The world despises Hwang Dong-man.

“What’s there to life? Nothing!” — Hwang Dong-man. While Dong-man grapples with ostracization, Eun-a seeks counseling to confront her recurring epistaxis.

“You’re just a nobody. Nothing. Nothing. Nothing!” — Director Park Gyeong-se. Dong-man slanders Park Gyeong-se, whose latest film opens to a wave of negative critical reception. Later, he returns home, only to encounter something entirely unforeseen.

“What’s life? It’s one long story. When the story ends, so does life...” — Hwang Dong-man. Gyeong-se sets his reprisal against Dong-man in motion, resorting to unscrupulous tactics. Meanwhile, a familiar figure from Eun-a’s past re-enters her narrative.

“They say love doesn’t appear. Because love is a concept...” — Byeon Eun-a. Wearied by the incessant derision of his peers, Dong-man finally retaliates against Gyeong-se, finally turning years of pent-up resentment into confrontation. Later, he chastises Ma Jae-yeong over his relationship with Eun-a.

“Days like this are worth living. If you’ve gone far away, it would be a good day to come back.” — Hwang Jin-man.

Dong-man and Eun-a discuss what is certain in life.

“... the limits of language.” — Hwang Dong-man. The prospect of Jae-yeong’s upcoming film sends Dong-man spiraling into an increasingly visceral envy. Elsewhere, Eun-a finally turns her attention toward Jeong-hui.

“It’s acting...” — Oh Jeong-hui. With his debut drawing near, Dong-man finds himself besieged by his fears.

“Self-reflection is the language of the weak. Have you ever seen bad people reflect on their actions?” – Byeon Eun-a. Dong-man confronts Noh Kang-sik and the nothingness that follows. Meanwhile, Eun-a grows increasingly apprehensive as Jeong-hui becomes involved in her project.

Life is a comedy.
