Engineering the Future

This film follows the emerging world of Electric Vehicles, the infrastructure needed for them, and the radical change we must make to the way we think about transport.

Some episodes of ETF are about entire industries, some about individual companies. This episode is different, it's about an idea, the Metaverse. The Metaverse is the successor to the Internet. It will change the lives of almost every human on the planet.

Virgin Hyperloop is a train that runs inside a steel tunnel. This revolutionary vehicle floats along the track using magnetic levitation, and glides at airline speeds for long distances due to ultra-low aerodynamic drag. It's fully autonomous and enclosed.

All over the world, engineers and scientists are racing to solve one key problem: how to safely and efficiently store electricity at a huge scale but at a low cost. The quest is producing some truly remarkable ideas, and this episode details three of them.
